Benefits at a glance

  • Quick, clear overview of all measuring assets

  • Easy and fast access to all relevant asset documentation

  • Support in planning, execution and documentation of all maintenance tasks

  • Instrument standardization (reduced spare parts)

  • Further instrumentation optimization concerning spare-part reduction and migration planning

Your challenge

During years of operation installed instrumentation changes continuously. The documentation and availability is often incomplete or not up-to-date. Plant operators are focused on developing reliable water or wastewater treatment both environmentally and economically. In that context, the improvement of maintenance procedures comes into focus. The increasing importance of an internal quality management system generates interest in inspecting the potential of the installed measuring techniques.

Our solution

Endress+Hauser conducts an audit and registers all installed measuring devices, regardless of the manufacturer, in a maintenance databank (W@M portal). During this audit, all installed instruments are evaluated in accordance to their criticality level influencing the process procedures and the overhaul risk based on the application conditions and the availability of spare parts and replacement devices.

The value for you

Through the criticality matrix, the operator immediately recognizes the critical measuring points which spare parts are needed. Therefore, the cost of stocking is considerably reduced. In addition, the current maintenance activities can be optimized to achieve high plant safety at its critical control points. Last but not least, an active migration schedule avoids unplanned surprises and reduces complexity.

Installed Base Audit step 1 and 2

  • Target definition and inventory control, plant inspection and recording of all on-site devices regardless of the manufacturer and data matching with existing values

  • Audit and analysis of crucial process devices, definition and classification of critical process applications and measuring points

Installed Base Audit step 3, 4 and 5

  • Recommendations for the maintenance strategy, evaluation of maintenance operations for any device and assessment of potential improvements

  • Generation of standardization and migration strategies in terms of repair risk and process criticality

  • Presentation and illustration of results and action plan, handover of final report, discussion of further measures and optimal transfer of all audit data to the Installed Base Assistant software for further utilization, including life cycle monitoring

From old to new

Independent of device status and age, all the installed measuring systems are precisely recorded. Determining which devices have to be replaced or standardized is an integral part of the audit and subsequent analysis.
